PNW Construction Camp - Concrete Day

On June 11, 2024, Purdue Northwest hosted the PNW Construction Camp - Concrete Days, providing an exciting and educational hands-on experience for students. With the incredible support of volunteers from IRMCA Member Companies: Smith Ready Mix, Euclid Chemical, and Ozinga Ready Mix. Students had the opportunity to dive deep into the world of concrete construction.

The day began with a 45-minute lecture on concrete basics, followed by the arrival of Smith Ready Mix delivering concrete for a 14’ x 20’ demo slab. Students then participated in various concrete stations, including a truck simulator, portable mixing and cylinder making, a touch-a-truck experience, cylinder breaking, and a concrete finishing demonstration by Local 692 Operative Plasterers & Cement Masons.

This event not only provided valuable practical knowledge but also fostered a deep appreciation for the concrete industry among the participants. A huge thank you to Smith Ready Mix, Euclid Chemical, and Ozinga Ready Mix for making this day possible and inspiring the next generation of concrete professionals!
